Senior Drainage Engineer

At AIM, we believe in a culture that is centered on integrity and promotes an entrepreneurial spirit. We have found that this environment fosters creative thinking and allows our team members to maximize their capabilities and opportunities. We are seeking a Senior Drainage Engineer (PE) with 15+ years of professional experience to be part of our Transportation Division. This senior-level technical position requires broad knowledge and skills in Water Resources and Roadway Drainage for state and local agency projects. A strong background in Florida DOT design policies and procedures is preferred. This position's preferred location is in our Orlando or Tampa offices, however, flexible schedules including remote work are available.


Objectives of this Role:

  • Oversee/produce engineering designs, including project research, storm sewer layouts, storm-water management designs, plans preparation, and detail designs.
  • Review of permit applications and necessary documentation reports for regulatory agency approval.
  • Develops technical memos and reports.
  • Utilizes software to prepare or review 3D models.
  • Reviewing and certifying projects or the work of the others.
  • Ability to direct, train and mentor junior staff.
  • Meeting with clients, contractors, reviewing agency personnel, and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Perform internal Quality Control to ensure designs, plans and calculations are complete and accurate.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Florida.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in civil, public works, or transportation project delivery.
  • Proficient in drainage software, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with FDOT standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with staff.

Student Intern(s)

At AIM, we believe in a culture that is centered on integrity and promotes an entrepreneurial spirit. We are currently seeking to fill two student intern positions, one for the Tampa team the other for the Fort Myers team. In this role, you will join our Transportation Design team (Tampa) or Civil team (Fort Myers), where senior-level professional engineers and project managers will teach you various roadway, drainage, water resources, and utility design aspects. Our ideal candidates are self-motivated team players looking for career development and are passionate about producing high-quality products for our clients.


Objectives of this Role:

  • Promote an all-inclusive approach to working in the team environment.
  • Communicate (verbally and in writing) daily with team members, subconsultants, and clients.
  • Prepare construction plans and detailed engineering designs according to FDOT and/or AASHTO standards.
  • Assist in marketing pursuits, including research, and concept development.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Pursuing or have obtained a Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Entering junior or senior year.
  • Pursuing or have passed FE exam.

Survey Instrument Person

At AIM, we believe in a culture that is centered on integrity and promotes an entrepreneurial spirit. We have found that this environment fosters creative thinking and allows our team members to maximize their capabilities and opportunities. We are currently seeking a Survey Instrument Persons to be part of our Bartow team. Our ideal candidate is willing to work outdoors and occasionally stay out of town during the week as our work takes us to various locations throughout the state.


Objectives of this Role:

  • Assist Party Chief in researching and gathering information.
  • Direct other field personnel.
  • Clear line using a machete.
  • Locate boundary corners using a magnetic location device.
  • Ensure truck is fully equipped daily.
  • Interact with clients and neighbors politely and respectively.
  • Knowledge of standard survey equipment and procedures is required. We do boundary, topographic, construction layout, utility, and other types of surveying throughout the Central Florida Area.

Skills and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. Knowledge of basic math.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient personal computer software skills with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Adobe
  • Possess valid Florida Driver’s License.
