SR 29 Study

AIM Engineering & Surveying, Inc. is conducting a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study which begins at SR 82 in Collier County and extends 18 miles to CR 80A in Hendry County. The PD&E study will evaluate and document potential engineering and environmental effects associated with the proposed widening of SR 29 from the existing two lanes to four lanes, divided. Three bridges are located within the project limits and the existing right-of-way varies from 100 feet to 200 feet. Minimizing impacts to several unique areas adjacent to the right-of-way including the Spirit of the Wild Wildlife Management Area, a cemetery and a Florida Power and Light sub-station is being evaluated closely in preparing the roadway alignment alternatives.
The project also includes an extensive environmental component that will require evaluation and documentation of the social, physical and natural environmental effects of the project. Some of the physical components include air quality, traffic noise levels, water quality, and potential contamination sites. In addition, the physical effects on wetlands, protected species, essential fish habitats, secondary and cumulative effects, floodplains, farmlands, outstanding Florida waters, and aquatic preserves will also be analyzed.
