AIM provided engineering services for a 9.1 acre multi-governmental complex in Lee County.

Lee County, Florida — Under this contract, AIM Engineering & Surveying, Inc. (AIM) is providing rezoning, surveying, environmental, site design, permitting, and construction phase services for a 9.1 acre multi-governmental complex that will provide offices and facilities for the County Tax Collector, fire department, Emergency Medical Service (EMS), and sheriff’s office. This project was a cooperative effort between these County government agencies, and AIM served as the civil engineer for the project. Lee County was operating under a limited timeline for this project, and AIM provided intensive coordination between Lee County and the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) to expedite the permitting process, which involved wetland mitigation for impacts caused by the project.

This new 8.5 acre complex demonstrates a wide range of AIMs survey, site design and rezoning services.

Lehigh Acres, Florida — AIM Engineering & Surveying, Inc. (AIM) is responsible for providing surveying and civil engineering services to design, permit, and construct this government administration complex for the East County Water Control District (ECWCD). The ECWCD is a 63,000 +/- acre independent water control authority in East Lee County, which provides water management and flood control for residential, commercial, industrial, and public lands within its boundaries. The new administration complex will be constructed on an 8.5 acre site, and will include a new administrative office building, a heavy equipment maintenance building, storage facilities, and a base for field operations. The site’s water management system will be further enhanced to include a created wetland system to serve as an example for integrating environmental enhancements into a site as well as providing educational uses. AIMs services included boundary and topographic survey, rezoning services, site design, regulatory permitting, and construction administration services.

AIM provides civil engineering and surveying in the design and construction of two new fire/EMS stations in Lehigh Acres, FL.

Lee County, FL — AIM Engineering & Surveying, Inc. (AIM) was responsible for providing surveying and civil engineering services to design, permit, and construct these two new fire/EMS station facilities for the Lehigh Acres Fire and Rescue District in Lee County. The two new stations provide an increased level of service to the unincorporated community of Lehigh Acres. Both station sites required rezoning and an innovative design approach was required for Station No. 4 to provided internal fire suppression water supply, as public water (utilities) did not extend to the site.

AIM helped to develop a hydrant draft system that utilized water in a drainage canal adjacent to the site. AIM’s services included boundary and topographic survey, rezoning services, site design, regulatory permitting, and construction administration services.

Lee County Parks & Recreation selected AIM to perform Surveying and Civil/Site Engineering services for 4.9 acres of improvements within the existing 9.3 acre Lover’s Key State Park.

Client: Lee County Parks & Recreation
Project Duration: 2003 – 2004 (design through construction)

Bonita Springs, Florida – Lee County Parks & Recreation selected AIM to perform Surveying and Civil/Site Engineering services for 4.9 acres of improvements within the existing 9.3 acre Lover’s Key State Park. The improvements included the installation of a paved asphalt driveway, turn lane on CR 865, asphalt paved parking lots, restroom facilities, volleyball court, designated shelters, children’s playground, and cooking grills.

In designing the improvements to the existing facilities, the master drainage plan was designed to provide water quality for the newly added impervious areas, and to show a net benefit for the existing site by providing additional water quality storage. These goals were accomplished through the use of a dry detention area along the southeast side of the recreational park. Because runoff is conveyed via sheet flow across the natural slope of the property, it became the most feasible and economical option to collect the runoff utilizing the natural patterns.

Runoff is discharged into Estero Bay through the use of a proposed modified Type C inlet as a control structure. Estero Bay is classified as an Outstanding Florida Water; therefore a 50% increase in storage capacity within the water management system was required. The end result of this project was an expanded and improved recreational facility where the public can enjoy the amenities for which Southwest Florida is known.
